What is project management and why is it important in marketing?

Why deal with project management right at the beginning of any marketing activities? "It happens pretty often that new clients come to us who underestimate the complexity of marketing projects. They get lured in by a lower price at the initial stage of the project and seek help only when it is clear that there is a problem somewhere," says our business & team leader Veronika Chvalová.

For example, let’s consider a client who wants to launch an e-shop. They need to know what the whole process should look like, so they hire a developer. But this person does not handle the project as a whole, so they “just” encode and deal with activities closely related to their work. The new e-shop is up and running, but it could be better because no one coordinated its implementation. And it is the client who will have to pay for all the finishing touches and corrections and spend extra time on them.

Our business & team leader Veronika Chvalová has experience with clients who did not deal with project management right from the start. “It happens pretty often that new clients come to us who underestimate the complexity of marketing projects. They get lured in by a lower price at the initial stage of the project and seek help only when it is clear that there is a problem somewhere. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a website or a brand identity change. When we compare the original bids and the actual cost of the projects, the amounts are generally noticeably higher than if the same task had been managed from scratch.”

Therefore, a project manager is not a black hole for money but a person who must be able to:

  • Find out your marketing requirements and goals and make a quote based on them.
  • Select the key experts who will be involved in the implementation of your project.
  • Schedule meetings, delegate work and check the correctness of subtasks.
  • Ensure that all services and materials are available to you in a timely manner and in high quality.
  • Adhere to the budget set and approved by you.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the completed project, produce a report and prepare the next steps.

Barbora Dongresová, marketing manager at senseZOOM, adds: “Project management is also about keeping an eye on the project’s direction and ensuring it meets the client’s expectations. That’s why you need to be able to multitask, always choose the best possible solution for your clients, and be able to follow through with the tasks you’ve been entrusted with.”

Save time and money and arrange a consultation with a senseZOOM project manager.
